The Formative Region of the Tree of Life is the region issuing from the Soul or Ego towards manifestation and is comprised of The Emotional Sphere and The Mental Sphere which combine to form The Astral Plain Sphere. This then continues to organize and solidify becoming subtle ethereal matter and then solid forms of material matter in The Earth Sphere. We number the paths of The Tree to correspond with the tarot cards for easier reference and categorization. Also moving from number twenty-one to number zero reminds us that we are moving towards our primal origin.

This path has the quality of the astrological planet of Saturn and the element of Earth. Here we move from the dense material world of Earth to The Astral Plain of dreams, imagination, meditation, ideas, and lower-level spirits as is expressed by the sphere of The Moon.
20. From The Earth Sphere to The Mental Sphere (The Path of The Aeon)
This path has the quality of the astrological planet of Pluto and the element of Fire. Here the physical sphere of Earth is connected with the Mind as is ruled by the sphere of Mercury. This connection implies drastic change as is expressed by the tarot card of The Aeon or The Last Judgment.
19. From The Astral Plain Sphere to The Mental Sphere (The Path of The Sun)
This path has the quality of the astrological planet or heavenly body of The Sun. Here the Astral Plain as ruled by The Moon leads us to our mental world as ruled by the sphere of Mercury. The mind here, free of the material world, begins to reflect the spiritual experience of the divine soul.
